What is STEM?
STEM is an acronym for the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics. It allows children to solve problems by applying cross curricular knowledge to real life scenarios. At Broughton Junior school we understand the benefits that A STEM curriculum has on our children’s education and therefore ensure it is cemented within our teaching timetable. This approach will allow our children to develop their computational thinking which will result in an improvement in their problem solving.
How is STEM implemented?
Children will complete two STEM projects throughout an academic year with Science being at the root of the project with the aim of children being able to apply their science knowledge to a range of scenarios. This will be accompanied with computing and engineering opportunities. Therefore, allowing Children to discover the link between Science, technology, engineering and mathematics when completing a project.
